St Wayne takes top poster prize
Our "St Wayne" ad for Nike took top prize at the 2006 Campaign Poster Awards last night. The ad scooped the Best Individual Poster award. It also won the Best Giant Poster Award. When it originally ran during the World Cup it sparked some controversy. It was described as 'brilliant' by some and 'blasphemous' by The Daily Mail. However, complaints to the ASA were not upheld. In fact, the regulator was quoted as saying, 'Some people just seem to to want to be offended.' At the time, we had our own 'special build' outdoor site on the side of the Wieden + Kennedy office.

"Some people just seem to to want to be offended" - brilliant.

I find this VERY offensive. It's not the poster that offends me. It's those poor people who's windows are being blocked. Ugh, this sets off my whole day.

Not offensive, maybe disappointing, depending on who lives, works, or studies there.
Were the people compensated for the blockage? If they were paid appropriately for the inconvenience (equally paid as for the glory of winning the poster thing, not the world cup :), I guess it's their decision.
Blinds/rolling shades, on the outside, are usually controlled by a pulley system on the inside, electronic or not. I assume this was not. controllable, that is. (nor electronic for the English language constructionist)

This isn't a picture of someone's house. It's the wieden + kennedy offices. We are the ones who work there. In the UK it's customary to hang a flag out of your window in support of your football team. We were doing the same thing with out Rooney ad.

I was kidding ;-)
So... who's hanging Arsenal FC flags? I can't do that at my office because I can't get a hold of any Arsenal flags here in America, and I think maybe one in 50 people would actually 'get' it.
